Performance Management
Performance management is effectively a catch-all phrase for the way that an organisation works – pulling together people, policies and practices into a culture that enhances organisational performance. It is both holistic and dependent upon continuous improvement throughout the organisation through effective communication, management and development. If you are interested in this section, the ACAS Model Workplace (pdf) is a good place to start your reading, alongside the CIPD's Performance Management Overview, which explains the fundamentals of the concept. The guidance notes within this section deal particularly with appraisal and performance assessment; other performance management links can be found throughout the site.
