Discipline and Grievance

In any organisation there will be issues which arise around performance, attitudes and behaviour which need to be addressed. Similarly, there will be instances when individuals are dissatisfied or disgruntled with their management, their work or their environment. Often, these matters can be resolved informally but it is vital that any organisation has a clear set of disciplinary and grievance regulations to be enacted in case of formal complaints. ACAS is the key authority in this area of HR management and they have produced a Code of Practice for Discipline and Grievance which is an excellent guide for both employer and employee and a starting point for the development of policies and procedures.
