Board meetings are the centre of governance. The way they are planned and conducted – in addition to the dynamics that emerge within them – significantly influence the quality of governance. Boards should place emphasis on well run and managed meetings - from the setting of agendas to accurate minute taking. It is hard to agree a most appropriate style but properly prepared agendas and accurately recorded corporate minutes can provide organisations and Board members with protection against certain liabilities as well as ensuring important and relevant business is attended to effectively.
