Access

boy rock climbingWhatever your sport and recreation it happens somewhere. Whether indoors, outdoors, on land or water or in the air, CCPR works hard to ensure that its member organisations are able to access the space they need to develop their activity in a sustainable manner.

Inevitably this brings challenges, and CCPR works to ‘best of both worlds’ principles. This means assisting members to practise their activities in an environmentally sensitive manner, and with due to regard to the needs of other forms of recreation and other interests such as conservation or land management. For further information with regard to this, contact Duncan Carter.

In certain circumstances CCPR has a statutory role in protecting and promoting access to land for sport and recreation. For instance the School Playing Fields Regulations require CCPR to be a member of the panel which advises the Secretary of State for Children, Schools Families with regard to the protection of school playing fields. Meanwhile the Greenham and Crookham Commons Act 2000 also requires CCPR to have two representatives on the Greenham and Crookham Commons Commission which is responsible for managing this land. For further information visit www.greehamccc.org .
