ENGSO

ENGSO logoCCPR is an active member of the European Non-Governmental Sport Organisation (ENGSO - www.engso.com) which is the umbrella body for Europe's sports organisations. ENGSO has 40 members from all over Europe, including non-EU countries. Currently ENGSO is the only European sports organisation to have been granted consultative status by the Council of Europe, which provides CCPR with vital access to Europe’s decision-makers.

In 2008/09 ENGSO will be supported with European funding following a successful application to the Europe for Citizens programme which promotes European umbrella organisations’ participation in Europe. The funding will allow ENGSO to better represent European sport in the heart of Brussels.

ENGSO president Birgitta Kervinen stated: “This grant of the European Commission for ENGSO recognises ENGSO’s role as the voice of sport in Europe and underlines our high quality work and increase in importance at European level. ENGSO is looking forward to cooperating with the European Commission for the benefit of sport.”

CCPR holds one of the few positions on ENGSO’s working group which analyses the effects of European sports policy and prepares ENGSO’s position papers, meaning the UK’s sporting views are always at the forefront of ENGSO’s work.
